Too many Claude sessions? Or feeling lonely while coding?
Have Claude bark at you when it's done.
tada is a free Claude Code plugin. The moment any session finishes, it plays a sound: a bark, a ka‑ching, a ta‑da, 65 to pick from or your own. When a session stops to ask for permission, you hear a different one, so it doesn't sit blocked while you're in another window.
/plugin marketplace add TZamaranth/claude-tada /plugin install tada@tada
Install it once and every session plays it, in every terminal and every project.
All 65 sounds are on the pads. Keys 1–4, Q–R, A–F and Z–V play them too.
Made for parallel sessions
- Nothing sits blocked. A session waiting on a permission prompt does nothing until you notice it. tada makes sure you notice right away, even three windows over.
- Two sounds, two jobs. Done means there's something to review. Needs input means there's something to unblock. With a different sound for each, you know which before you look.
- No tab-cycling. Stop flipping between terminals to check which session is still thinking. Work on something else and let them call you.
- Out of the way. One sound per reply, never per step. It runs in the background, so a session never waits on it.
Pick your sounds
Choose two that sound nothing alike: one for done, one for needs input. Ask by name, or describe it and Claude picks.
- /tada:sound done coin
- Play coin when Claude finishes.
- /tada:sound needs-input knock
- Play knock when it needs permission.
- /tada:sound needs-input off
- Silence one event.
- /tada:sound something goofy for done
- Claude chooses for you.
How it works
- Claude finishesThe plugin's Stop hook plays your done sound.
- Claude asksA Notification hook plays your needs-input sound when a permission prompt appears.
- Claude keeps goingBoth hooks run in the background, so a sound never blocks or slows a session.
It runs only local scripts and your system's audio player, and sends nothing anywhere. Works on macOS, Linux and Windows (with Git Bash).
Bring your own sounds
Want your own dog, your kid yelling "all done!", or your team's victory chant? Get the clip yourself, and tada plays it like a built-in.
- Get a clip. Record one (a phone voice memo works), or download one you have the right to use, like a CC0 sound from Freesound or a free effect from Pixabay. An mp3, wav or m4a of a second or two is ideal.
-
Add it.
/tada:sound add ~/Downloads/bark.mp3, or just tell Claude "add the bark I just downloaded". -
Pick it.
/tada:sound done bark
Your clips stay on your machine. tada never downloads anything.
